New details emerged today about the first Star Wars standalone film: Rogue One. Attendees of Star Wars Celebration were treated to a panel on the last day featuring director Gareth Edwards and Executive Producer Kathleen Kennedy. So what did we learn?

4. The film will be titled: Star Wars Anthology - Rogue One.

This gives us an indication that the movie will be part of a larger series of stories by indication of the addition of "Anthology". Basically its a way to market the stand alone films. Each film will stand on its own as its own story. All the films in the anthology collection will serve as independent tales within that collection. Rogue One will technically be a prequel to the original trilogy but will focus on an entirely different premise . A pretty slick move if you ask me.

3. Rogue One will take place between Episode III Revenge of the Sith and Episode IV A New Hope

..and will focus on a group of Rebels with no Jedi Powers whatsoever. It will be void of the Force so to speak. Gareth Edwards stated that Star Wars is a War after all and he will be focusing on that. Basically making this movie a War movie, sort of grounded in reality, based in the Star Wars universe is a risk... but seeing as it sounds pretty good, it might be a well taken risk.

2. Rogue Ones plot will be based on a mission to steal the plans for the Death Star!!!!!

It appears this movie will focus on the events that led to Princess Leia to obtain the plans for the Death Star and upload them to R2. We know what that means!. Be prepared for a lot of Bothans to die !!! (yeah yeah, thats the 2nd Death Star, we know)

1. The teaser leaked on line.

Disney isn't ready to release it to the public so it might be a while before we see the official teaser, but some managed to film it and upload it to youtube. Who knows how long these will be up, but we got to see it.... and believe you me, "that's no moon..... it's a space station"!!!

The below still is a grab from the video. It depicts the Death Star orbiting a planet, rising as a moon. The teaser begins with a speech from Alec Guiness' Obi Wan Kenobi from Episode IV : "For more than a thousand generations, the Jedi Knights were the guardians of peace and justice in the Old Republic... before the dark times, before the Empire". The trailer fades in to an overhead flying shot of a jungle, it slowly pans up as it continues to move forward. A Tie fighter zo0ms by. The shot continues to pan up into the sky, through the forrest. A faint silhouette slowly becomes visible. Its the Death Star!. Image fades out and theres sounds of a ground assault. A battle being fought somewhere. Sounds of communications, of death, of war. fin.
